I like to think of myself as quite a creative person, always looking for new ways to store things and pretty things to add to my bedroom. I'm a firm believer of the fact that a girls bedroom is very much a personal space, to dress up as she chooses, with whichever soft furnishings and bits and bobs take her fancy. Everyone has different tastes, but I think it's refreshing to see a variety of ideas and solutions. As most of you will know, I'm a huge fan of searching out unique and vintage items for my bedroom from charity shops, bootsales and home clearance shops, so it may not come as much of a surprise to you that I don't store my jewellery or makeup in a modern glass jar. The selection of things I have pictured here were all under £5. Unlike buying a plastic box for my makeup from a shop on the high street, I get such satisfaction out of finding pretty little trinkets that I know will make my room slightly more interesting. They really aren't that difficult to find either, you just need to open your eyes a bit more. Charity shops are always stocked with cute little plates and saucers & bootsales are absolutely FILLED with vintage, one off items.

Each of the plates you see above, cost me 20p. The tins are a more recent find. I got them from a house clearance shop, which if you ask me, is an amazing idea. It's like a permanent bootsale stand & everything is so reasonably priced. Each tin cost me £2.95. I used the Alice in Wonderland tin to store all my tiny studs and small stacking rings and the Typhoo Tea tin has all my cotton wool pads and cotton buds in it. The Jacobs Cream Cracker tin, as you can see, is used to store all my lipsticks, so simple & so effective. The Mrs Tiggywinkle tin, I have used to store more earrings & the tin beneath that, has my necklaces in it. The mirror on the wall cost me £3 from a bootsale & the cup & saucer candle was also from a bootsale for £2. The retro "Annual for Girls" book was bought on a day out with Louise in Market Harbourough Oxfam for £1.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to store your jewellery or makeup or to add a touch of personality to your bedroom, you just need a creative eye & the ability to make nothing into something.

How do you store things in your bedroom? Have you found any vintage gems?

I wanted to give you all a little insight into some aspects of my room. I get asked a lot to do a room tour but I don't feel 100% comfortable with bearing my whole bedroom to you all, although I certainly don't mind doing little posts like these where you can see different bits and bobs which may help to inspire some of you. So, this is my dressing table, or make up station, or as it's better known, "my desk that doesn't get used for officey-type things so I've filled it full of makeup & beauty items". My grandad made it for me many moons ago, I painted it cream & changed the handles to make it a little more girly.

Ceramic Rose Handles - Homebase
Cream drawers to the left - Ikea (Painted cream & used the remnants of my wallpaper to cover the sides)
Wallpaper - Leekes Linda Barker
Silver drawers to the right - TKMaxx (Brilliant for bedroom storage)
Large Mirror against wall - Bootsale & handpainted
Small Antique Mirror - Bootsale
Light up Mirror - Boots
Flower Lights - BHS
China Saucers - Bootsale
Mosaic Flower Pot - Bootsale
Small China Vase with handle - Bootsale
Small cream & gold Jewellery Box - My Nan gave me this

Re-organised/New Makeup Storage.

This was requested a few times since i got my new makeup storage & i guess is a sortof peek at most of my makeup collection (some is still waiting to be stored away..eek)
Yay, i finally feel quite content with how i store my makeup. It's now easy to find things & i don't have to delve down to find certain colours etc. *satisfied*

[To some this may be a stupid amount of makeup..& to others a small collection..but to me it's just right so no judging please.. :)]

Click to enlarge any pics for closer look

This is my makeup desk thing...it's where i do my makeup :) It looks kinda higgledy piggledy..but i like it.

The Draws...
Lipglosses/Lipbalms

Eyeshadows - Incl. Duo's, Quads, Dazzle Dusts..etc etc.

Blush's/Bronzers/Highlighters

The Silver Chest...
This includes all my foundations, primers, some moisturisers & many fake tans on the left.

D.I.Y Ikea Draws...
For all you observant peeps, you will notice i have covered these drawers in the same wallpaper that is on my wall in the first picture...It took me a flippin age. appreciate it! :)
In the drawer to the left i have mostly miscellanious drugstore lipsticks & in the right mostly Mac but other higher end lippies too.

This drawer houses my many concealers & a few eye creams

Left drawer is Mac shadows (To depot..or not to depot..that is the question?) & on the right is everything else eye related.

On top of the Ikea Drawers...
My brushes which are displayed in a sainsburys pencil holder (if you are wondering why i have randomly plonked black there, i actually have some black in the rest of my room as its cream/black)... & the silver mirrored drawers which house...

Bobbi Pins.. ♥

Small clear/black hair ties (perfect for the hair plait braid..£1 in primark) & your average brown hair tie.

My coloured hair clips :)

So ladies...that is my new storage system in place...& its working fabulously..especially the mirrored drawers as i never really had a system with my hair accessories before. Makes life a little easier & faster & i heart my new silver draws from Tkmaxx. Soo much room & i can see everything! The baskets are just on my other desk which isnt really that interesting as it's just hair/body/face stuff in them. But if you are desperate to see those too i will post the pics up, just didnt think they'd be of much interest. :)

Also, one of my bestie's started up a blog today after i persuaded her..mwaha
So you should go & follow her please, because i know its not nice to start a blog with nobody following you and you feel as if you're talking to yourself haha.
And shes gorgeous & lovely too & i love her
:)

Follow her HERE!

Thankyou lovelies.

Makeup Storage, Tk Maxx & Bootsale.

When it comes to makeup storage i find it SO hard to find anywhere that has something suitable. I don't know if thats because im too fussy..
I always look in stationary shops & just never have any success.
At the end of the day, if it's your bedroom, you want it to look gorgeous :)

I accompanied my mum shopping today.
We went to TkMaxx (TJmaxx in america i think)
& the selection of storage is massive compared with anything i've seen before. They have SO many different styles , sizes & colours at the moment. I was actually torn between a few different things but i do not have the money to go all out and buy everything (even though i happily would have)
So i settled for this gorgeous set of silver draws.

The different drawers...I am SO pleased i found this. It's perfect, it even has the different compartments.
Before i went into Tkmaxx, i went into the pound shop to buy some latex gloves for self tanning...can you believe they sell them as a 25 pack? 25? we have 2 hands...Surely an even number would make more sense?
Anyway..
I found these little plastic drawers for £1, i don't think they are very pretty but they are very practical & inexpensive, & thinking i wouldnt find anything else, i picked up the last 2 they had.
So if you are on a bit of a budget, or are not too fussed with what your storage looks like i highly reccommend scouring the poundshop. :)

Also, in Tkmaxx they had these gorgeous little baskets. I wanted something like this to put all my body lotions/hairsprays/hair serums in.
They have SOO many different designs & sizes of these. Lots of cute floral ones for you Cath Kidston fans (even though these arent the real deal) & at £2.99 & £4.99 you can't go wrong.
Now onto my Sunday Bootsale finds...

It wasn't an overly successful trip, no makeup, no bath/body items. But some cute jewellery.

This necklace was 50p. It has a garden gnome, a fork & a little boot on it...SO cute, i love it.
This is how it hangs. Quite low, and don't panick..i know it looks silly with my outfit, but i was just modelling the length for you because im nice like that :)

This one was also 50p.
I got this because it's just damn cute.
Sorry for the boobylicious shot..but this is how it hangs. This one is quite alot shorter. I love it.
Then, i saw this book. & yes, i saw it & picked it up because it had my name on it, and then on further inspection i notice that it is infact all about everything i love & its such a fab book. There are so many tips & tricks that i'm thinking i will share with you all.
This was £1.
Bargainus!
And before i end this post. I will share with you a pair of sunnies i also picked up in Tkmaxx (seriously ladies...tkmaxx sunnies are amazing)
These are Vivienne Westwood (one of my favourite designers) & i fell in love with them.
But do you know what made me love them even more?
they were £19.99!
I am usually SO fussy with sunglasses. If you havent noticed already, i am petite..which means that i find watches to be a mission (as my wrists are tiny) & i also find it hard to get shades to fit my head! haha I actually really like the shape of these & they feel so unbelievably comfy..maybe because i am used to cheap £2 ones from Primark.
I havent ever owned a decent pair. So these will be my special ones. haha
My mum also picked up some amazing roberto cavalli ones.

Have a goofy picture...
What do you use for storing your makeup & where do you buy it?
Hope you're having a lovely evening ladies. How blummin amazing was the weather today? 30 degrees! Loving it but feeling a tad sticky.

My Makeup Storage.

I'm affraid that when it comes to storing makeup, i really am NOT very organised..although it looks tidy...i can never find anything easily because i throw it all in the silver chest. It makes life easier in the short term. haha.[Tidy Tidy]

From the Left: In the "Lamb" tin (which once had my watch in it) now has all my hair grips, then theres the classic light up mirror, In the little mirrored draws are all my eyeshadows, a tower or lush skincare, a small glass vase of fake flowers (haha), my large silver chest, a black cd storage box with 2 draws all of which include more makeup and on top of that is a picture holder but i use this to hang my earrings on...I used to have them all chucked in a draw but the nuisance of having to find the other one and untangle them drove me insane, and i find this method SOO much easier.Hhmm...this is the mess that is some of my most-used makeup. Things like eye pencils, mascara, concealer are in the small makeup bag near the front and thes rest is just blush, MSF's, Dazzle Dusts...etc etc.

The Top Drawer...
Nail Polishes, Toner, cotton pads, Makeup remover, Hair Bands and the bag in the bottom right corner is full of all my lip products...

[Lots of lippie stuffs]

Draw of body lotions, deodorant, face washes etc..
[& my really soft lounge-about-the-house booties in the bottom left corner of the photo]

If anyone wants to do a review of anything you spot, let me know
